What did i think of this lesson?
During the creation of this lesson plan I was surprised by how much consideration goes into all aspects of a project. As an art maker it comes naturally to me to do all the things, and take all of the steps that need to be clearly explained within a lesson plan. I became very excited by all of the possibilities there were to make the lesson interactive and fun for the students while making it interesting and informative at the same time. I found it became increasingly easy to write after doing the project myself and seeing all of the process and challenges I faced while making the work. I am pleased with all of the options and adaptations that can be presented to the students with this lesson. And would be excited to see how students would approach a project like this. Melissa and I took time to create supportive material that was researched and appropriate to the materials we wanted students to learn.
The most challenging part for me while writing this lesson was the ability to anticipate all of the moves, reactions, and questions that would arise during the execution of this lesson. Knowing what to say, do and where to go next is something that i think will come with experience and knowing the students you are teaching. By understanding their needs and wants within the classroom will make it much easier to plan a lesson that addresses concerns and issues that will arise during a lesson.
I enjoyed the excitement that I got from writing this lesson .It make my expectations and ideas come to life. As the lesson went on I kept thinking of ideas for supporting materials that would help the students and get them interested in all aspects of this project. Because be making this project students are earning so many skills and procedures and concepts it is something that I would have been excited to do in high school and I think that students will react well and with excitement when posed with this lesson. Making this project was another part of the lesson that got me excited to teach it. It made me realize that being involved with the making of art helps the students realize that I do know what I am talking about and that my expectations can be achieved through hard work. As well as the idea that my expectations are achievable. I want it to challenge students to do better and take risks with art making. As well as gaining an ability to find out things about themselves and explore who they want to be as artists or individuals.
