We will cover the following terms within the lesson. By the end of the lesson students will have a clear understanding of how these terms relate to our finished art work
- POWER - The capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. Power has influence on all parts of our lives.
- MEDIA - Communication channels through which news, entertainment, education, data, or promotional messages are conveyed to society. Media includes every broadcasting medium such as newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, and internet.
- UNITY - Unity is a principle of art, unity occurs when all of the elements of a piece combine to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole. Unity is difficult to define and create a standard for throughout all of art so it is subjective to each artwork if unity occurs based on materials used and the idea behind the work.
- TEXTURE - Texture is an element of design. Texture is about surface quality either tactile or visual. Texture can be real or implied by different uses of media. It is the degree of roughness or smoothness in objects. Within this project we will explore texture through application of paint and images this will create implied texture. And real texture will be created through the application of string to the canvases and in some cases the application of many layers of images.
- LAYERING - Layering is a post modern principal of art. Layering is explained through the idea that, as images become cheap and plentiful they are no longer treated as precious, but are often literally piled on top of each other. Images within a collage will be both hidden and enhanced. The artist has control over what the viewer is able to see through layering.
